Pepperio 4.3
Released: 24/10/2006
New Features:
Shortcuts
We have now implemented the ability for end-users to assign pages as shortcuts to other pages within the site. The use of a shortcut displays the destination page's url in the browser.
This document describes the improvements that we have made to the product in version 4.3.
This document is intended for Pepperio customers and partners already familiar with previous versions of Pepperio who would like to be aware of the new features and enhancements provided with this release. Readers of this document are assumed to have an understanding of Pepperio concepts and terminology.
Firefox Browser Support:
Pepperio can now be used with the Mozilla Firefox web browser as well as Microsoft Internet Explorer. This will enable more people to use Pepperio, especially in organisations that use Apple desktops.
Pepperio In Any Language:
Pepperio has always let you produce web pages in any language. Now this capability has been extended so that Pepperio itself can appear in any language. By adding a Pepperio “language pack”, the Pepperio website management tool can be
transformed into a local language.
Password Protected Pages:
As part of a programme of enhancements focused on collaborative working, Pepperio has been extended to support password protected pages. The associated user management features to support this have been added to the “People” mode of
Pepperio. These enhancements will enable Pepperio customers to provide additional website functionality, for example extranet pages and subscription-only content.
Performance Enhancements:
Mediasurface has invested in a comprehensive review and update of the Pepperio engine, resulting in a significant increase in performance of the Pepperio website management tool. Users will especially notice the improved response time when adding new pages.
Improvements:
Upgraded Hosting Infrastructure
In addition to software improvements, we have also invested in upgrading the hosting infrastructure to a faster and more resilient architecture. The technical benefits of this hosted environment are:
- Multiple upstream bandwidth providers
- Cisco Powered Network status
- Deployment of latest server hardware technology
- 24/7/365 hardware infrastructure monitoring.
Advanced Searching
- Searching within Pepperio just became more powerful, with the ability to restrict your search results to an area of your site.
