SaaS - Go Green!

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint & Your IT Hassles

Going Green:

By its very nature Pepperio is very green, and environmentally friendly too! The Software as a Service (SaaS) model is inherently greener than on-premise implementations, as the technology employed in in-house projects is only replaced and updated infrequently and has a non-negotiable reliance on energy inefficient hardware and systems.

There are several key reasons why the SaaS approach is kinder to the environment, including:

  1. By combining and centralising operations for a number of users into one efficient data centre, less energy and natural resources are consumed to power it than would be used on thousands of individual operations.  This also has the knock-on effect of using less materials to build fewer individual components of hardware, as resources are pooled within the data centre.
  2. Modern data centres are carefully built to take advantage of the energy efficiencies available with new building materials and heating/cooling technology.  Power consumption is reduced as space is carefully planned to maximise use and our customers demand the highest standards, so the data centres we use have to supply the most energy efficient equipment just to stay in business!
  3. SaaS is intrinsically more agile product than a standalone application, as demands change and are met with much greater ease of implementation.  By being able to adapt quickly, we have to use standards and codes that can work with our lightening responses and allow us to keep up with the pace of change.  Such speed also means we spend less physical time and resources developing and cajoling cumbersome and heavy code – saving yet more energy, time and resources.

As part of our commitment to helping the environment we plant a tree for every device we install in our data centre helping to off-set carbon emissions
